SMU Postgraduate Career & Networking Fair connects experienced students with leading employers in October 2025
- Held twice a year, the SMU Postgraduate Career & Networking Fair is curated for postgraduate students and recent graduates with more than two years of work experience. The event brings together experienced talent and industry employers across sectors such as finance, consulting, tech, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and media, offering opportunities to explore well-matched roles, ask meaningful questions, and connect directly with industry professionals. The Oct 2025 edition brought together over 250 experienced students and 40 leading employers across these sectors.
Young scholars from the 2026 Dato' Kho Hui Meng Young Scholars Programme explore education opportunities in Accountancy in SMU
- As part of the learning journey component of the Dato’ Kho Hui Meng Young Scholars Programme 2026, participants attended a session led by Professor Yuanto Kusnadi, who introduced the distinctive features and educational approach of the SMU School of Accountancy. Through his presentation, participants gained valuable insights into the school’s innovative pedagogy, industry-relevant curriculum, and strong emphasis on experiential learning. The session also highlighted the school’s extensive industry partnerships, global opportunities, and commitment to nurturing future-ready graduates equipped with both technical expertise and leadership skills. By learning about the diverse academic pathways and career prospects available in the accounting profession, participants were able to develop a deeper appreciation of the discipline and better understand how an education at Singapore Management University can support their personal, academic, and professional aspirations. The programme was held from 14 January to 25 January 2026.

Organised twice annually, the SMU Career Fair features over 130 participating companies each session, offering a wide range of internship and full‑time employment opportunities across diverse industries. Open to all undergraduate and pre‑experience postgraduate students, the fair underscores SMU’s commitment to connecting students with meaningful career opportunities and supporting their transition from university to the workforce.

Held twice annually, the SMU Career Fair brings together over 130 organisations per session, offering a diverse range of internship and full‑time employment opportunities for undergraduate and pre‑experience postgraduate students. The strong turnout underscores students’ enthusiasm for early career planning and highlights SMU’s continued commitment to fostering meaningful connections between academia and industry.

At the launch of her new book, Professor Kong invited leaders, policymakers, and educators to reimagine the role of higher education in a changing world. The book is drawn from her IPS–SR Nathan Lectures delivered between October and November 2024. Across these lectures, she traced how the idea of “the university” has evolved in response to shifting societal contexts, examined what it must represent today as humanity grapples with the prospect of 100-year lifespans, and reflected on the responsibilities universities bear beyond the confines of academia. The publication also brings together highlights from Professor Kong’s dialogues with audiences following each lecture, expanding the conversation on how universities can shape enduring legacy and meaningful impact in the years ahead.
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Global Summer Programme
- The Centre for Global Education and Opportunities (GEO) celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Global Summer Programme on 23 June 2025, with a cake cutting ceremony at the Mochtar Riady Auditorium. - In 2019, students from the SMU-XO course "Millennial Talent Management – Recruitment and Engagement" teamed up with their peers from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) to develop solutions for PT Pagilaran's challenges in attracting and retaining millennial employees.
SMU-X at 10: A decade of learning that turns ideas into action

Cross-Cultural Studies
- On the occasion of his 90th birthday, Mr Choor Singh, a retired judge of the Supreme Court of Singapore, made a donation to launch Singapore Management University's Centre for Cross-Cultural Studies (now known as the Wee Kim Wee Centre). The centre is to be a platform for research, discussion and teaching across political, geographical and cultural boundaries. Launch of LARC with CMU
- Singapore Management University (SMU) and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) have teamed up to establish the Living Analytics Research Centre (LARC). The Centre will develop new techniques to acquire data on consumer and social behavior and pioneer new approaches to analyse such data to develop applications and methods that will benefit consumers, businesses and society. The collaboration has received a S$26 million grant over five years from the National Research Foundation in Singapore. This fund is managed through the multi-agency Interactive Digital Media Programme Office (IDMPO) hosted by Media Development Authority of Singapore. With SMU and CMU committed to cash and in-kind contributions, and third party funding, the S$60 million centre will establish Singapore as one of the world's pre-eminent centres of excellence in computational social science. The Living Analytics research programme is distinctive in that it combines the key technologies of Big Data (large scale data mining, statistical machine learning, and computational tools for the analysis of dynamic social networks) with analytics focused on consumer behavior and social media. - Held on 28 January 2026 at the University’s basement concourse, SMU’s annual Study Abroad Fair was rebranded as the Global Education Fair (GE Fair), reflecting the Centre for Global Education and Opportunities (GEO) commitment to shaping globally agile, Asia-ready graduates with real world experience. Beyond semester long exchanges, GEO offers a diverse suite of flexible global programmes that support students’ academic, professional, and experiential learning goals. These include Short-Term Study Programmes (SSP), which provide structured overseas exposure in credit-bearing and non-credit formats, as well as international work opportunities such as the ASEAN Internship Programme (AIP), AIP+, and the Global Innovation Immersion (GII) Programme. Complementing these are SMU-X overseas project experiences and Overseas Study Missions, which integrate classroom learning with real world projects and industry focused study trips, enabling students to gain global and regional perspectives through immersive learning experiences.
