Singapore's karaoke culture brought to a high by student DJ from SMU Stereometa
Live, Laugh, Lor unites all Singapore's institutions of higher education for the first time in a dynamic 4-night showcase with the Singapore Night Festival, celebrating the rhythms of contemporary Singaporean identity. The photo features Josiah Tan Zheng Keng, a year 2 student with School of Computing and Information Systems and a member of SMU Stereometa, lighting up the stage with a high-energy dance set that pays tribute to Singapore's KTV culture, inspired by nostalgic karaoke hits, weaving throwback anthems and well-loved crowd favourite songs. Stereometa, SMU’s only DJ (Disc‑Jockey) club, has grown into one of the most exciting tertiary DJ collectives in Singapore’s nightlife scene. Equipped with industry‑grade gear, the club pushes musical boundaries while providing structured training that shapes student members into confident, skilled DJs—empowering them to express themselves freely through any genre they love.

A–Z: Infinite possibilities come alive at SMU Patron’s Day 2026
On 30 January 2026, Campus Green was transformed into a vibrant hub of celebration as students, staff, alumni, and members of the public gathered for SMU Patron’s Day 2026. The lively afternoon flowed seamlessly into an evening of colour, music, and community spirit, featuring highlights such as the SMU Makers showcase, the Inter-Faculty Tug-of-War, and a series of performances under the stars. The festive atmosphere reflected the energy and creativity of the SMU community. The excitement began days earlier with a Patron’s Day roadshow held from 26 to 28 January, where participants enjoyed games and activities inspired by the theme, “A–Z: Infinite Possibilities.” As one of SMU’s longest-standing traditions since 2000, Patron’s Day commemorates the University’s incorporation and honours its Patrons, from President S R Nathan to current Patron President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. The 2026 celebration served as a powerful reminder that, just as 26 letters can form endless words, the SMU community continues to create limitless possibilities together. This video features the highlights of SMU Patron's Day 2026, capturing the vibrant celebrations, community spirit and memorable moments that brought students, staff, alumni, and the public together.
