Organised twice annually, the SMU Career Fair features over 130 participating companies each session, offering a wide range of internship and full‑time employment opportunities across diverse industries. Open to all undergraduate and pre‑experience postgraduate students, the fair underscores SMU’s commitment to connecting students with meaningful career opportunities and supporting their transition from university to the workforce.

          A photobooth at the 2025 SMU Careers Day is available for students to capture both light-hearted group candids and professional individual headshots, including photos suitable for LinkedIn profiles. The service is operated by an external vendor engaged by the Dato’ Kho Hui Meng Career Centre (DKHMCC).

            SMU Postgraduate Career & Networking Fair connects experienced students with leading employers in October 2025
            Held twice a year, the SMU Postgraduate Career & Networking Fair is curated for postgraduate students and recent graduates with more than two years of work experience. The event brings together experienced talent and industry employers across sectors such as finance, consulting, tech, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and media, offering opportunities to explore well-matched roles, ask meaningful questions, and connect directly with industry professionals. The Oct 2025 edition brought together over 250 experienced students and 40 leading employers across these sectors.

              Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Global Summer Programme
              The Centre for Global Education and Opportunities (GEO) celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Global Summer Programme on 23 June 2025, with a cake cutting ceremony at the Mochtar Riady Auditorium.                   During the opening of the Makerspace in SMU Labs in October 2018, a student showcased various objects created using 3D printing machines to Ms. Neetha Nair, Head of the Center of Excellence with Prudential. Supported by Prudential, the Makerspace serves as a collaborative environment for students and the SMU community to create, learn, explore, share, and generate new ideas using 3D printing and other tools available in the space.

                        Held on 28 January 2026 at the University’s basement concourse, SMU’s annual Study Abroad Fair was rebranded as the Global Education Fair (GE Fair), reflecting the Centre for Global Education and Opportunities (GEO) commitment to shaping globally agile, Asia-ready graduates with real world experience. Beyond semester long exchanges, GEO offers a diverse suite of flexible global programmes that support students’ academic, professional, and experiential learning goals. These include Short-Term Study Programmes (SSP), which provide structured overseas exposure in credit-bearing and non-credit formats, as well as international work opportunities such as the ASEAN Internship Programme (AIP), AIP+, and the Global Innovation Immersion (GII) Programme. Complementing these are SMU-X overseas project experiences and Overseas Study Missions, which integrate classroom learning with real world projects and industry focused study trips, enabling students to gain global and regional perspectives through immersive learning experiences. IdeaX can also be used beyond the classroom by organisations seeking opportunities to make meaningful impact.

                                  As part of the SMU-X Overseas (SMU-XO) programme for ECON248 Overseas Project Experience (Macroeconomics in Asia), the students engaged in a recreational activity by taking a boat cruise along the Mekong River before heading to one of the local villages for a cultural exchange.

                                      Students from the SMU-XO course "Millennial Talent Management – Recruitment and Engagement" and Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) visited the PT Pagilaran plantation in Yogyakarta to collaborate on developing new solutions for recruiting and retaining millennial employees. The students taught by academics from both SMU and UGM, engaged with tea farmers and factory employees to gather insights for their proposed solutions. PT Pagilaran, a subsidiary of UGM specializing in tea and cocoa exports, provided an experiential learning setting for the students. The innovative pedagogy was lauded at the fourth PIEoneer Awards in 2020, a global award that celebrate innovation and achievement across the whole of the international education industry.

                                        SMU Global Summer Programme 2024 introduces a new Digital Intelligence Track
                                        Singapore Management University (SMU) launched the 9th edition of its annual Global Summer Programme (GSP) with the introduction of a Digital Intelligence track. The new track empowers students to confidently harness technology for success in an AI-driven world. Held at the Mochtar Riady Auditorium on campus, the launch event was attended by more than 250 programme participants from 35 nationalities around the world.                                           The 2024 Study Abroad Fair (SAF) saw a record-breaking 1,512 registered participants, the highest since its inception. Students are offered a wide range of Global Exposure (GE) programmes at SMU to enrich their learning. These include overseas community service projects by the Centre for Social Responsibility, overseas internships by the Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre, study abroad and immersion programmes by GEO, overseas study missions offered by Schools and overseas project experiences by SMU-X, among others. The Fair served as a comprehensive platform for students to learn about the various programmes available, engage directly with representatives from SMU’s partner universities, and gain insights into overseas exposure opportunities.                                             Kicking off the first SMU-X Lifelong Learning course in August 2024
                                            In August 2024, Professor Gary Pan from the School of Accountancy (standing) and Professor Venky Shankararaman from the School of Computing and Information Systems (left, seated) launched the first lesson of the SMU-X Lifelong Learning (SMU-XL) programme, offer in the Industry Practice Master (IPM) of Digital Economy Capstone. It builds on SMU’s Industry Project-Based Experiential Learning (INDEX) programme, focusing on andragogy, lifelong learning, and industry collaboration. SMU-XL connects adult learners with industry partners for practical, hands-on learning experiences throughout different stages of their careers and education. The initiative leverages the principles of andragogy, emphasizing the unique needs of adult learners and promoting a self-directed, collaborative, and experience-based learning approach. At SMU-XL, faculty members and industry champions mentor adult learners to innovate solutions to actual business challenges and objectives.

Held on 28 January 2026 at the University’s basement concourse, the GE Fair was organised by the SMU Centre for Global Education and Opportunities (GEO), a unit within the Academic Services and Operations (ASO) group. This signature GEO event continues to serve as a key gateway for students seeking transformative international experiences, offering insights into study, internship, and overseas immersion opportunities.
