SMU strengthens career readiness with co-curricular transcript and lifelong career support
- At the SMU Co-Curricular Symposium 2025, Professor Alan Chan, SMU Provost (left), and Education Minister Chan Chun Sing (right) celebrated SMU's dedication to providing transformative education through impactful co-curricular learning. The event marked a historic milestone with the announcement that the 2025 graduates will be the first cohort to receive SMU’s Co-Curricular Transcript (CCT), a pioneering initiative in Singapore that formally documents students' co-curricular achievements and skills developed. Additionally, all SMU degree holders will have access to Lifelong Career Support, including career coaching, networking opportunities, and job placement resources from the Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre (DKHMCC), ensuring career resilience beyond graduation.
Career consultation for alumni
- Ms. Prasanthi Guda (Right), Head of Undergraduate Careers at the Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre (DKHMCC), is seen providing a one-on-one career consultation to an alumnus. In 2018, the Centre extended its support services to alumni for three years post-graduation. This was later enhanced to lifelong support in May 2005.
Career centre establishes overseas engagement team in 2016
- (From L to R) Ms Tara He, Ms Lynette Goh and Ms Joanna Tan formed the newly established team in 2016 from Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre (DKHMCC) to engage and grow business relationships with overseas employers in selected markets, broadening the opportunities for students in their career journey.
Career Champions of 2024
- Corinne Ong, Director, Career and Employability Services (front, 3rd from left) from the Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre (DKHMCC) with the Career Champions of 2024. The Career Champions Programme was initiated in January 2013, comprising student leaders trained by staff of DKHMCC to provide basic career coaching such as resume reviews, mock interviews, internship advice, to undergraduate students. Following its success, the programme was extended to Alumni in 2017.
Launch of Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre website on 2023 Career Day
- Dr Navin Rajagobal, Senior Director of Academic Services and Operations, attended the 2023 Career Day to unveil the new website and career resources of the Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre (DKHMCC). Career Day, an annual event hosted by DKHMCC, offered students and recent graduates the opportunity to connect with potential employers and explore various career paths. Additionally, attendees could access career coaching, personalized consultations, and other services provided by the Centre.
Outstanding Intern of the Year award recipients of 2017
- Ms. Ruth Chiang (center) is pictured with the 2017 Outstanding Intern of the Year award first-place winner, Lu Yi Qi, Benjamin (left), and second runner-up, Elizabeth Ong Xin Yi (right). Established in 2013, the award is funded by an endowed contribution from Ms. Ruth Chiang, the pioneer director of the Office of Career Services at SMU. Managed by the Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre (DKHMCC), the award scheme aims to encourage excellence in internship performance, uphold good and ethical values and practices in the workplace, and recognize students' achievements in their internships.
First run of Career Cafe in 2024
- The Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre (DKHMCC) ran its first Career Cafe in the basement Concourse in September 2024. This event offered students a casual setting to engage with industry experts, career coaches, and fellow students over a drink. Prasanthi Guda, Head of Undergraduate Careers, is pictured sharing the various support services available to students for planning their career paths.
Participants of the inaugural International Speaker Series Dialogue in Mumbai, India
- In February 2018, the inaugural International Speaker Series Dialogue took place in Mumbai, India, drawing over fifty participants, including entrepreneurs, business community members, government officials, and SMU alumni. Hosted by the postgraduate career services team of the Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre (DKHMCC), the session was themed "Winning the War for Talent." It focused on how corporations and start-ups can attract the right talent to achieve their business goals and enhance their appeal to high-potential individuals.

Inaugural run of ASEAN Internship Programme Plus in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
- Students participating in the inaugural ASEAN Internship Programme Plus (AIP+) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, had the opportunity to visit a local business and gain firsthand insights into how agriculture contributes to economic growth and supports rural livelihoods. They also studied at Vietnam National University to gain insights into Vietnam’s politics, economy, and society. Launched in May 2025, the AIP+ programme is jointly managed by the Centre for Global Education and Opportunities (GEO) and the Dato’ Kho Hui Meng Career Centre (DKHMCC). It aims to enhance students' employability and global readiness through internships at ASEAN companies. Students are introduced to ASEAN cities with high business potential, providing them with an understanding of the companies, challenges, opportunities, and the business culture and landscape. They are also given opportunities to acclimatize to the city and country, and to build contacts in their assigned location.
