Singapore Management University (SMU) marked its 25th anniversary with a vibrant Patron’s Day celebration on 17 January 2025, bringing together more than 7,000 students, alumni, faculty, and staff on Campus Green. Centred around the eight-metre inflatable mascot SMOO SMOO, the event showcased the spirit and achievements of the SMU community through a diverse programme of performances, activities, and tributes. Highlights included performances by alumni hip-hop crew Eluminix, SMU Samba Masala, the Malay Language and Cultural Club, and special appearances by alumni Chantalle Ng and Joshua Lim. As evening fell, Benjamin Kheng and DJ Kiara energized the crowd, transforming the anniversary celebration into a memorable showcase of community pride and shared belonging.
The festivities also reflected SMU’s commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and inclusivity. More than 40 SMU Makers presented their ventures, from sustainable fashion creations to student-led startups, while the Inter-Faculty Tug-of-War brought together participants from all seven schools in a spirited display of camaraderie, with the Yong Pung How School of Law emerging victorious. Sustainability initiatives such as Go Green with SMOO encouraged recycling and environmental awareness, while the SMU(ltiply) fundraising campaign enabled service staff to take part in the celebrations. As part of the university’s 25th anniversary milestone, Patron’s Day 2025 celebrated SMU’s journey of growth and impact, while looking ahead to its next chapter of innovation and contribution to Singapore and beyond.
